The intake cooling hoses from the jet into the logs are off in these pics. It had a gate valve from the pump that ran into a Y that ran into the logs. I have been going through everything since I picked up the boat and now its almost ready to go back together. I prefer a clean and minimal system and have no problem yanking this cooling system off if there is a better system. This boat will live on the Colorado river (parker). Please chime in if you can advise me on what is best or of this is a good system. I have read about pressure and temperature issues with jet cooling systems and I want to do this redo right the first time. I am pretty sure the engine is original so maybe Hallett did it right back then.
That system has a t-stat, and if working correctly should be trouble free.
I have a bbc, logs and snails, and a gate valve at the jet. Then on to the logs, out the logs to water pump block-off plates, out t-stat housing to the snails.
(catch hell for this) The gate valve adjustment is for maintaining engine water temps.
It has been set up this way since '76, 100 hrs this year alone, so far...
