new carb didnt work , so i pulled the intake and the cam is gone . Metal in the lifter valley .....Real Nice . My builder says he will rebuild it again . Hope fully he knows where he went wrong .

no , oil was clean for the most part .I think he used the wrong lifters or pushrods .....

be sure and add a breakin additive that has zinc in it. i also run a heavy duty diesel motor oil in my 502 bbf because it still has the
additives needed to lube flat tappet cams. most oils now days do not. it is very critical on a new cam. be sure and run the cam
manufactors lifters or ones they suggest. run it at 2000rpms for first 20 minutes.  be sure cam and lifters are installed using the cam
lube supplied with it.

 ps: is your boat made by charger? mine is a 77 charger 21'

I used rotella which has zinc in it and ran the motor for 2000 rpms for 25 minutes . As far as cam lube goes i would hope the builder used it .
