Title: 460 motor needed (Please read this and lets help this guy out)
Post by: Rodbender on May 08, 2009, 09:46:17 AM
I ran across this post today on Craigs list and I know this guys pain. PLEASE take a few minutes to read this and see if we can band together and help out a brother in need. If in doubt if this is real, I believe it is. I believe it so much that i am going to try to help because i have felt his pain.

Follow my lead!

I have a set of C-9 heads that are ready to bolt on. They are in great shape and would bring a stock 460 to life with the right cam. i have been selling them for $300.00, but if you can get your hands on a short block, i will give them to you as I feel your pain. Only thing i ask is that you be real with me. I can use the 300 my self, so if you score a complete motor and the heads are just an option, I would as soon sell them.

I too am only here by the grace of God. I have 3 boys and they were always happiest when we were on the water going 100mph with our hair on fire.
If the years I have spent in AA have taught me anything, is in recovery the children take the hit the hardest. It is all we can do to keep our head up and push forward, but they dont know how to do that. They just know that decisions and changes happen without their consent, and it hurts.
I am going to post your link on So Cal Jet Boats, it is a forum for jet boaters just like us. Maybe they can help.

My name is Charley, and my cell # is 760-578-9623. You can write to me at charleyk@avir.com , I dont normally check this e-mail.

My God bless you & keep you as your trudge the road to Happy destiny!

I can feel the guys pain. Went through the same thing 11 years ago. Custody of 2 young kids is a HUGE undertaking. Recent events in my life have compounded that (JUST a BIT). I'm more than happy to help. Got a garage half full of parts I thought I'd need but didn't.

Find out if it's real Charley, first of all. Then we'll see where we're at. We're already trying to get Chromey goin, I think, I dunno, last I knew I had an interior for $500 somewhere, lol. I think we can help the guy out. Get him to sign on and we'll see what happens.

Not an interior Ray, just a set of fiberglass buckets and a bench seat, I'll happily forego my add on & set you up with my upholstery shop @ my cost.
Thanks for bidding. Now let's see if this CL guy is on the level.

I just got off the phone with him and he was in tears when i told him I was giving him my heads. I believe he is real. I told him to sign in and list the parts he needs and the help he needs and maybe we can help.
I am here in Palm Springs area and i go to riverside once a week. I will be happy to help deliver anything I can to him.

He has a guy that will do a build, so it should be a matter of parts. he said he had a block, but wasnt sure if it is buildable. It was swamped at Catherines landing (go figure), and thru a rod and lunched his old block.

Aiight Charley, just sent you a PM, I'll buy the c9's, we'll give the guy my brand new d3's (Don't want to kill his kids). Bolt on as well. I have a block I kinda reserved for Chromey, but he doesn't want to take his apart for some reason, so oh well. I'll get it machined and see where we're at with it.

Out of the former Moo engine I know I have 6 good rods and pistons, probably 7 pistons, and MAYBE the crankshaft can be saved. I'll see if I can pull myself away from the yardwork to day and get it ripped down to see what we got. All this stuff has a hafl hour run time on it. The block may be OK as well, which would be a bonus and easy.

I just talked to IRRebel and we got this thing narrowed down.
i am gonna give him my C9's and he is going to donate his shortblock with two lunched rods. I am going to meet him in Blythe and pick up the motor and I can deliver it.

What we need is a machine shop local to riverside San Berdo area that is willing to take it down and repair the two rods for this guy.
We need two rods for sure
Main & rod bearings
Gaskets (I will briong what i have)

What we may need
two pistons w/ rings
hopefully the crank is savable

With a little time and very little money our goal is to give this cat a turn key motor long block. He can use his intake, carb, dist, and the other goodies.

Thank you all so much for your concideration, we have the ability to help a brother in need, Lets do this!

i wont be much help for the 'majors' in this build (ie heads, block, rotaing assy, etc)....but when you guys get down to the nitty gritty, dont be shy to chime in with what you need like gaskets n stuff....ill help out by drop shipping stuff out there via summit.

have you told this guy about the site/thread yet?

When I talked to the dude, before I got SCJB involved, and I offered my heads to the guy, he was in tears. Better than that, when I got off the phone my day & serenity level went thru the roof. If he is running a hustle, that is between him & God and I have no part of that. But if he isnt, a great thing is taking place right here right now! In my opinion, he isnt running a hustle and i think what we are doing is pretty frickin great. If not for him, for us. Take a step back and see how great it was to say, "I'll help this guy, I feel his pain".

I have 3 boys and motorcycles across the board. I have been put in situations (or put my self there) and was in need of money fast for mortgage, utilities etc... and not ONCE did I think to try to explain to any of my sons why I am selling THEIR motorcycle to pay for my stuff. I believe that God will provide, and he always did.
Dont look now, maybe he is providing as we speak!

Sorry for the PTL lecture, it is just how I feel about it.

You guys are the coolest cats ever, the last time I helped someone out with boat parts (BBC short block) not only did they kick our ass in the river race but they blew it up too  LOL...Still had fun and was glad to help.

I do not have ANY Ford stuff, when you get down to the wire lemmeknow what's needed to get her running, maybe a set of spark plugs or something???

I would do more, but have two non-running rides right now :banghead:

Ralph, I'm an agnostic too, as was my wife, for the most part. I still beleive in doing what I can, much as Cindy did (She did a better job of it, dealing with and teaching kids with autism and severe handicaps, and loved it), for the less fortunate. I wouldn't be in a financial position to do any of what I've done were it not for her death. (Kinda morose huh?)

That isn't religion, that's Karma, to my thinking.

And yes, if I'm being scammed, well, my own fault, but there's gonna be more trying that that, already has been.
