« on: March 11, 2008, 12:49:07 PM »
Up for sale- a complete carb to pan 454 BBC. Marine motor, block casting #3999289. Shows as a '71 to '76, 2 or 4 bolt, but this motor has a large 3/4" pipe plug over the oil filter casting, so I assume it's a 4-bolt. 8 qt. marine pan. Includes Edelbrock carb and starter. Came from a running boat. Available this week and must be sold by Sunday. $850 obo. 951-675-9249

And just to prevent any misleading ideas,  I am assuming this motor would need to be rebuilt.  But,  it doesn't seem to be hurt now and this would be an outstanding platform for a solid rebuild with a std bore 4 bolt block and a steel crank........

Ok, so after pulling the heads  and the pistons are stamped STD.  Bores look good.  So, 4 bolt 454 stock bore with a steel crank. The only issue I could see was that some of the head bolts were trashed and the threads need to be repaired.  Machine shop said its not a big deal and could be done with solid steel inserts that are about 4$ each.  I would have them all done to be consitent.  Now $600 with the heads.  Includes short block complete, with the heads and a stock pan.   Somebody come get this out of may garage before I get a wild hare and build it............   I've also got a set of forged .020 flat tops that appear to b in very good shape in another motor.  I'll throw them in as well.  Somebody has to need a new power plant, even to build as a spare......    Come get it.......
