ok so i got word from the engine shop. it is going to be cheaper to replace the the motor than try and fix the one i got. basicly the only thing i have that i can reuse is the heads, and external stuff.

so my question to you is can any of you come to my rescue price is def a concern. i just bought this motor and it probably only has an hour on it.. so the cheaper the better. here are two motors i have found online. what do you guys think.

They're not gonna stand by their work? It's only got an hour on it and the builder is really telling you to take a shit on yourself? I'm not sure I'd be using them again...

I have a friend with a few 454 blocks. If you still need them they're just blocks and cranks.

ya all i need is the block and crank and cam. i an reuse some of my stuff. and yes if i end up getting a long block i will sell you my heads.

i talked to the guy selling the motor on craigs list. he said his motor says marine motor right on it. he pulled it out of a k5 blazer and the guy he bought it off of said when he sold his old boat he put the motor in the k5. It was started about 3 months ago and then he pulled it out and it has been sittin in his garage.

So he will take 1k for the motor and it is complete minus the carb.

the engine shop saying it is not their fault. there was an oiling issue and i put the new pickup and oil pan on. so when the motor was pulled apart there was one detinated piston a cracked piston sleve, a flat cam, and two spun bearings on the crank. I noticed that my oil pressure guage was acting funny for the last couple times out. but i just checked the oil and kept on chuggin.

anyway if anyone can help out i would appreciate it.

just talked to steve. the 427 is sold but he is goign to call me back once he checks his invitory to see if he has any more chevy big blocks

LS6 is a great motor. If its a complete long block just remember that they came with solid lifters, etc. Not exactly suitable for a boat.... You'd be adjusting your valves all the time. Just keep that in mind, something to check on. LS6's are awesome engines. If you can, jump on it.

like i said that 426 is already gone. wish i could have gotten that.

i talked to my same engine builder and he has the core and parts i need to get back on the water. i might have to repair the heads a bit and get some new rods.

so he says he can probably keep it under 1200. that is about my budget. so my question to you guys should i trust these guys to build my motor again. I cant blame them for the motor. i did sink the boat and the motor was completely under water. haha. so i think i had a little to do with it. plus he said the oil pickup was loose when he tore into the motor and i put that on myself. so that could have airrated the oil a bit.

so what should i do. spend 1k on a new block and have to do all the work of changing parts over and going to get it. or just spend the cash here with the builder that did the first motor and just pick up my new motor.

i do trust these guys work. they have built my yz motor and the build race engines for the desert guys out here all the time.

and i am a guy that enjoys convienience..

my engine guy will give me the block,crank, and most the parts i need for around 350$ so i think it is going to be easier to just have them build me another. that is less work for me. i dont have to go look for a motor go get it or transfer any parts.
