san antonio,naciemento

plan n a trip to san antonio or naciemento and was wantn some info on where to stay n which lake to camp at.

any info or advice would be cool thanks. we would be goin on july 11-13.

San Antonio has a TON of cool campsights on both the North and South shore's. Tom at JBP likes the the north shore better for some reason. I have always stayed at the South shore. Both lakes are bitchen! You cant go wrong either way.

I like them both, but Nacamiento is a little more RV friendly. bring some shade!

i will be bringn my 21ft toy hauler along with my boat. so there is not alot of shade trees at the camping areas at both lakes. is there beach shoreline for the kids to play while not boatn. just want to know as much as possible before i go dont want to get stuck stayn somewhere that sux.

San Antonio has a TON of shaded areas for camping on the South shore. Huge trees everywhere. Pleany of shoreline for the kids to play and even a playground in the Lynch camping area. I have been going there since I was knee high to ducks dick

The shade is for when it is a hundred and fricken ten, there is plenty of trees, just bring a shade tent (EZ-up) so it will be where you are (July=hot) Last time I was there in July, we cheered when the afternoon wind kicked up. I think the high of the day was 118*, and don't give me that "dry heat" BS, it was flippen hot.

is it a busy lake lot of people. good for jet boats im guessn. the lakes we have here in bako have to many tower boats thrown huge wakes. just wanted to go somewhere different.

San Antonio never gets too busy. You will see more tower boats at Nac. My vote goes to San Anton.

IHMO : we have a cabin at Nac but I'd often rather camp at SA (north shore ,you can litterally leave you boat in a cove and camp next to it (20 feet away) Shore camping North shore SA is the epitomy of freedom for me been doin it for twenty years ! Tom

Around here, we either call them "Thug" boats or "Gang Banger" boats (no offense, but those things jack the water up) Not too bad on weekdays, but you get a lot of "locals" on the weekends. big lake though, some cool hangouts, Nacemiento has more "fingers" to go into and cruise. Its 50/50 on those two, they are close together but as the crow flies not by road. May see you there, look for a red and white Mini offshore with an identically painted Pace Arrow, Hard to miss

The problem with SA south shore or Nac particularly for events is that you have to launch and find a day beach visavi' getting there SA north shore early securing an "area" (real estate) and having your group/organization in a close easy acess group area (both day camp and nite time) Much better ,less confusion trust me Tom

J/K. The camping and having your boat in front of you is nice I agree. Either way, I would go to SA and you will have a good time regardless.

Very true, I'm too much of a last minute idiot to plan that far ahead

My work dictates (no pun there, I don't think

) when I can and cannot break the boat, I mean go boating.

I like to hang out on the beach at Nac. if there is space, but the genny gets a workout, SA is better for that for sure...

Sorry Tom I just now saw this. At Naci we had a water line break and the whole boat filled up with water...almost didn't make it on the trailer!
At SA boat ran great untill the last pass...came out of the water one too many times. Think I hurt the motor. Taking valve covers off on a later date.
