You current boat might have a higher free-board then the TX-19 which makes you feel like your not so close to the water, but the trade-off is the ride quality, the TX-19 is going to and will ride 5x's better then your current V-bottom..Hopefully that makes your wife feel safer.
We went from a 26ft Cat all the way down to my current 19' CP, my wife was worried of the ride quality because she remembers the first boat we had together (19' Bahner) V-Bottom rode like $hit according to her.

1st ride she took in the CP and the first sizable wave we hit and she was amazed of how well the Gullwings took it!!
It was all downhill from there, she loves the CP but wished we went a little bigger to a 21ft tunnel and so do I nowadays...
