Took my Cougar up the river for 4 days of river camping - 2 people, 2 dogs, 10x12' tent, air mattress, 2 coolers and 6 bags of foodstuffs, table, 2 chairs, 7 gallons of fresh water, one burner stove & propane tanks, personal effects etc. Let's just say we were traveling heavy so we had to install the luggage rack. Used nylon line to lash the rack to the cleats but that was not only an eyesore but has little guarantee of safety.

What I'd like to do is come up with some way to quickly latch and unlatch the rack to hollow cleats? Anyone seen such a critter?

id imagine you could use stainless bimini hardware for the deck hardware.  it wouldnt look terribly out of place either.  just put a aluminum plate on the underside with bolts through it so you dont use just screws that could rip out of the deck.  then just adapt your luggage rack to fit/bolt up to the bimini mounts.

On the Klamath river, Yurok Reservation, Klamath, California 95548 - 10 miles upriver from the mouth, on the east bank.

Some more shots from the camping trip - up the hill 70' up and 300' inland we find a forgotten remnant of the Great Flood of '64, now becoming one with nature. I believe it was a '53 Nash Rambler but I sure could be wrong...

Salmon and Trout are abundant... fishermans paradise.

Is the water super shallow? Do you have to know your way around?

Yes, record low levels this year thanks to central valley farmers suing to stop the release of water from the reservoir. Otherwise low tide at Tewer Riffle between the town of Klamath and Klamath Glenn can be 6 inches or less - luckily you can put in up river of that at Klamath Glenn. I seldom see less than 2 feet under my boat - the shoals in the distance are about 2' but behind my boat is 12'. You can always wait for the Jet-boat tour boat to go by and follow his route. Some knowledge of the river (waterfall) doesn't change but the locations of deep holes, shoals, snags and gigantic rocks changes every year.

If any of y'all make it up this way, let me know and I'll show you around. Town is full of river-front RV parks would make a great place for a regatta.
