applying resin over painted wood

I would like to no if i will get a good bound if i apply resin on wood thats been painted .

Depends on the kind of paint used, but I would say no, for the simple reason the solvents in the resins will act as paint remover and you'll end up with a mess.  Strip down to wood.

X2, needs to be more porous, it would be limited to how well the paint stuck, if your going to resincoat the whole thing anyway, just rough it up with some 60-80 grit saning and use colored resin, this will eliminate a step and give a finished surface, I would recommend mixing in some Duratec  to help it flow out better...They always say a paint job is only as good as the prep., you could say the same for any fiberglass work...

Chances are the catylized resin will craze and bubble the paint ! Tom

That's your best bet and cheaper in the long run.  You won't be wasting resin when the paint peels.
