I lost my dad 2 1/2 years ago to Leukimia , so trust me when I say I know how you feel!

Loosing a parent - Time never heals the emptiness, closure never comes, and you'll find yourself missing them when you least expect it.  30 plus years for me and I still wish my dad were here.  My mother is 94 and doing quite well for her age, but even her age is starting to take its toll on her and one day, the hole will widen even more.

If ya got'em enjoy'em.

I read this post to my G/F and she loved the way you worded it. She lost her G'ma, her great G'ma, and both of her parents in the last two years. She's having one hell of a time getting through it. She was very close to all of them her entire life.

Thanks.

my pops has full kidney failure and is on dyalisis 3 times a week, you can see the band-aids on his arm. the waiting list is 7 years long for a transplant and he has been waiting 2. He is on borrrowed time so i spend as much time as i can with him, because the inevitable is coming :'(

My thoughts are with you and your family but enjoy every minute while you can.  Plus, he did a great job on your boat.

Hotrod,

I can truthfully say I know what she is going through.  We are a very close knit family as well, and when one is taken from us, we try to remember all the good times and those times that may have been bad, we tend to forget.  They are but dark shadows of a past gone by. I never knew any of my grand parents as I came along late in my mom and dad's lives.   I am grateful that I did know my parents.

Ralph,  Spend as much time as you can with your dad.  Go fishing, take a boat ride, have a beer and laugh and joke all you can.  Make the memories that will last the rest of your life time!  When the urge strikes you to say something you may regret later, take a deep breath and instead, tell him you love him.  Many of these good folks will have you in their thoughts and prayers.

Ralph, keep doing what you are doing, bulding memories and enjoying your father, hopefully something will happen to shorten that waiting list for him.
