I'm thinking of getting my gel coat redone and having some minor fiberglass repair done to the bottom of my boat. It has a wj jacuzzi pump on it. If I was going to spend the cash to get the gel coat redone should I have the transom cut to fit a Berkeley pump?

Have you gotten pricing do do the gel coat?  Well you have money left?

 I guess the only constructive advice I cam give is you better be absolutely in love with the boat.

A Berkeley would not be a bad move,  but it's a lot of work for little gain.

Plan on $6k or more for one, maybe two colors.

Another $2k to swap the intake.

You can almost build a new hull.

Not being a dick, just facts.

I have $2300 worth of gel coat to do my 20.5 Carerra. That was at a pretty substantial discount. About 3 gallons of different materials.

What kind of gel is that? I was quoted around $100 a gallon. I still decided not to go that route after a test spray I was over the gel.

Hardener, gelcoat, primer, spray additive,  solvent,  pigment, cleaner,  UV stabilizer.  I probably have 8 gallons of crap total.

The gelcoat was the cheap part. It's all the stuff you need to spray it..

You can't just spray the raw gelcoat.

I went through Composite Direct.

Gallon of gel coat at Sherfab  is like 65 bucks

What color? Gel coat is clear.

That's a pretty good price.  My gel worked out to be about $35 a quart. The additive to spray it virtually doubled that. The primer was about $250 by itself but needed three more components to make it work.  My colors are all (3) one off custom mixes that has a one time service charge of $100.

I was going to paint it. But we already did three in paint and wanted this one to stand out. Paint is getting stupid in this area (Santa Clara County). I bought a half a pint of metallic red for my daughters Honda CRV and I walked out $220 lighter.  FML.

Yup. They estimated the Crusader we did at $7000. Only a 23' Miniature offshore. Three colors.
