probably depends if it is under clear or not.  If it is not covered by clear, I would take some fine sand paper to them until they are gone and then wet sand and wax the rest of it.

I used a heat gun and an old credit card to scrape with.  I have heard oven cleaner works but I didn't have any and I did have the heat gun.  No oven cleaner is not a joke, I am totally serious.

no matter which way you do it I think there is the potential for damage to the paint you want to save. Good luck

i would think the heat gun would only work if it was a decal, not painted on numbers ???

are you goin to paint the new numbers back on, if so i would think a very careful wetsand job to get the old numbers off and a good airbrusher with the new numbers should be able to make it work pretty good, and if it is gelcoat it would make it that much easier.

gel

mask off the numbers....and cover the surrounding area with newspaper......and spray it with easyoff oven cleaner.

make sure you dont get this shit anywhere else on the boat other then where the numbers are....it will screw up your trailer, rub rail, etc..

it will take a few applications and lots of elbow grease to remove it, but its by far the easiest way

I've heard Gel is like concrete , it gets tiougher with time . I would do it again . It buffed out pretty easy . It was like a huge powdered chaulk blob though .  I am the last person to be making any kind of guarrantee though . I will be trying it againthough to remove the AZ

Hey Daytona, do you have a buffer?  Get some rubbing compound and just polish it out.  Might take a little longer but you sure won't hurt the gel coat that way.   ;)
