How to remove this paint

When I wet sand I use 1000, 2000, and 3000. The sanding pads I used are in the first picture. The second picture is the Dual action polisher I bought at harbor freight. Start with the 1000 pad and get a spray bottle and put a few drops of dish soap and fill the rest with water. Spray the area with the soapy water and run the polisher over it. Don't stay in one spot for too long, constant movement. It will take a little longer with the 2000 and 3000 to get it to polish out. Once your done with that start buffing it with a 10" buffer and some compound, then wax it

nick, are you saying you use a power tool to wet sand/color sand? and those pads are the equivalent to 1000, 2000, 3000 grit paper? (is that polisher waterproof/resistant?)

if so,.....why am i doing it the hard way.....

I have done it quite a few times. It works great. Those pads are the equivalent of the paper, they don't last really long, maybe once around the boat. I picked them up at a auto paint supply shop. They are not really cheap either. $3-5 a piece but they are worth it and they are meant for wet sanding

a little. it would definitely take A LOT of scraping to get it off and even at that it wouldn't get 100% of it. hopefully i can get outside in the morning before it gets to hot and see how the oven cleaner works.

Still working it with the 220. It's a lesson in patience and I don't think the wife is thrilled with the constant layer of white dust all over everything. If I were going to pay to have someone finish this up what would I be looking at $$$ wise. Stanton is not that far just saying....

The oven cleaner worked. Hopefully I can get to wet sanding it this week and take the remainder of the paint off. Unfortunately I lost some of the pin striping but I was already expecting that.

I personally liked the plum crazy... It always stood out on CL, you knew it was the boat when posted.
Purple is one of those colors you love of hate though, I can see why you'd want it off. But I felt it made it different. Yet I also kept my boats name got them reason.

Not recently, but it used to pop up form time time over the past couple years. Not sure if it ever sold or what, just know I've seen it before.

I'm going to wrap the sandpaper around a sanding sponge, will that work as a flat enough surface so as to not leave finger marks?

Also, going to go at it with a "wax on, wax off" motion. I assume to not go in a straight line. Am I on the right track? I have 1000, 1500, and 2000.

I normally do the straight back n forth motion. Sanding sponge is OK as long as it's not the kind with grit already on it. Don't be stingy with water. You'll see the fresh water get cloudy or take on the color of the gel or paint or whatever you're sanding. If it's a layer of clear....it'll be harder to tell. Set as idea a good hr or two for sanding. You're looking to sand with the heavier grit
Focusing on where the paint was...and as you progress thru geits, sand a bigger area...eventually when you get to the highest grit you'll be sanding an area bigger than where pai t was. When you buff, the whole deck should get attention. This way it will minimize how much better looking the newly sanded area is compared to rest of deck/boat. Nah mean?
Job should be within your capabilities. Just time consuming.
Go easy....if you burn thru gel from sanding or buffing....You'll have to repaint. You can try to save the pinstripping area for the finer grit....to try to save what's left....and buff it easy there. Just a thought.

I ended up sanding the whole bow. It needed it anyways. It's pretty damn smooth now. Going to hit it with the buffer tomorrow and see how it turns out.
