I gotta fill these holes that  I've put a bandaid on for too many summers.  Same tanks going back in while.the fuel tanks get bungs welded.what should I use to fill them and mount tanks back n in same location? All is appreciated thanx.

This will say a lot about me and how I do stuff.

Grab a forstner bit (like 1/2") and drill the wood out to the outer glass.

Once that's done,  fill the holes with Marine Tex. Make it as smooth as you can while wet,  that stuff is hard as hell.

Once that's done,  set the tanks back in and mark the holes of the tank brackets.

Now drill and tap those for 1/4x20 machine screws, you will need a bottoming tap. They cost about $6.

Use some short stainless bolts and fender washers and go have fun.

This is bulletproof.

Better yet,  go to Amazon and simply type "Forstner bit set" I bought a Porter Cable set for under $50. They drill a hole with no taper,  completely flat.


And yes,  Marine Tex is a high solids epoxy. It is silly strong.  It can be milled and machined similarly to aluminum. It comes in charcoal grey and white.

Wood sucks. If you decide to go that  route,  use ash Dowling.
