Looks pretty darn good as it is! I'd leave the thing alone and have fun with it.
I have a '77 19', and it is BEAT UP, but still retains some of the woodgrain in the same places as yours. They are a good, solid boat, no nostalgia or collector value (If there is such a thing for boats) as say a Sanger, Hallett, Rogers, etc. So a "restoration" would be an act in futility.
I do wish mine had the JE pump though!
Instead I have an Energized Jacuzzi version, with an Olds, that kinda, sorta, close to resembling lookin' like makes a JE out of a Golden Eagle YJ. Won't find a lot of fans of the JE/JF pump here, but I am one. The pump can do anything any other Berk can PLUS can be completely rebuilt in the hull without removing the engine or the pump, something no other Berk can do. Same parts inside as any other Berk except the shaft.
Pat keeps threatening to paint some woodgrain on his, lose the weed whacker and drop in an Olds just to be cool again!
Seems the bright, sparkeley Metalflake and woodgrains have been coming back into popularity the last couple years. I think it's because of us old guys getting back into it, myself.
Yours, personally, and without detailed pics, looks as though a good, thorough multi step wet/color sand and polish would make it bitchen'!
