21 ft Anthony mini daycruiser
« on: September 18, 2012, 03:26:46 AM »
I have the opportunity to pick one up real cheap. But its just the hull. It came with an AMC 360 and o believe a panther jet. I plan to remove the drive train from my 18ft eliminator and run it in the Anthony. How involved of a job is this going to be? Any advice would be great. I have no fiberglass experience so i will probably hire someone to make my berkley jet fit where the panther was. Other than that is it going to be a straight forward install? How much am i looking to spend to do the jet swap. Any recommendations near Pomona? How much will i be able to get for my Eliminator hull? Its nice lookong w nice interior. Thanks guys!

WOW, I got nuthin

Panther? the hull and transom look like It will need a lot of work for a berk pump. (Think cubic dollars..$$$)
I think another boat even with a yj jacuzzi would be a better choice, and could be converted to berk, But what do I know, Ive got one of each, Jacuzzi WJ, a Dominator and a Berk.

A Panther will pump concrete too.

you might think about running a energizer kit. then you dont have to cut up the hull, you just use the suction housing from the panther and all the other parts "bolt on".  Call Tom at JBP he has all the info and the kit.

pfft... who wants a panther pump?   :screwy:

do you still have the pump or just the giant hole where it once was?  panthers are usually rock solid pumps, not gonna break any speed records but will run all season long as long as you keep the fluid topped off and the rear greased.

Looks like the panther pump is missing.

Modifying that hull for a berk could be expensive.

A 21' with modest hp (and berk) ~60 mph boat

I'd pass

nothing comes with the hull. its just as you see it. the hull is being offered for $100. yes ONE HUNDRED. no jet included.... just wondering what is expensive? even at $100, is it not worth it? i dont want to spend the same or more than just going out and buying a mini cruiser. i thought i could get into this for about as little as possible after using as much as possible from my current boat. the gel looks restorable. i know i may need to have upholstery made for it too. i'm ok with that. how much should i be loking to spend to get my berkley to fit this hull? or should i just run?!! :banghead:

there are a ton of resources out there for parts, and a lot of help and advice... but even still a bare hull you're probably looking at spending at LEAST 3-6k just to get it in floating running condition.

you either need to find a panther pump (getting harder to find...) or at least a panther suction housing to mount in there for an energizer kit.  Last I heard JBP is poppin 2500 bucks for the energizer kit itself... or you need to pay someone to cut out the panther suction section in the hull and reglass in a bottom that can then be cut for a berk intake... it has to be done correctly.  not something you probably want to attempt yourself.  im guessing your eliminator already has a motor,  gas tanks, interior will easily be a couple thousand for upholstery alone.  i paid about $1500 for mine and its just a little 18, not a full daycruiser.  electrical, etc.  the boat probably isnt registered so thats another 100 bucks in due registration.

its going to be a long road ahead of you.

that being said... its something that Ive gone through with my boat.  down to nothing but the bare hull.  but i know *EXACTLY* what i have, and that its safe and reliable.  even if you buy a full rigged boat it'll be a giant mystery and should be gone through regardless.

feel free to browse through my build thread and other threads in the projects section to get an understanding of how everything goes together and what it'll take.  i personally loved building my boat more than driving it.

I'm not afraid of the work. Ive had my boat down to nearly nothing. Wired it myself: no problem. I think i can build the seat frames myself too. But no way can i set up my berkley jet to fit. Kust trying to get an idea of what the cost would be. Any recommendations of a shop who can handle the job near Pomona? Thanks.
