« on: April 27, 2016, 12:44:33 PM »
Going to look at a 1980 centurion tunnel jet on Saturday. Not a lot of info on line about them top looks like a Cheyenne to me. Was just wondering if any one had a oppion on them. Boat is a 1980 with a BBC.

Thanks I was on Elsinore a lot last summer and I never seen it. Seller is claiming 502 but the old add says 454. Thought that was a lil fishy. I'll run the numbers when I look at it.

I had inquired about the hull. New gel coat but drills holes in the dash for car tach?

I've caught him in multiple lies ad said 502  I asked him if it's a bowtie block STD bore 502 said yeah I asked for a casting numbers  he won't give them to me called me said it's a a 454 he had bored to a 502 I told him "no no you didn't" story changed again. Said ported racing heads but won't give proof or casting numbers. Doesn't seem to no shit about boats but seems like he's trying to hustle me. Said he built it all but it's exactly the same as it was in the previous sellers ad. I'll check it out Saturday but dude is definitely upsetting me at this point.

A good friend of mine set a 120mph Blown Gas Jet record in 1979 in a Centurion like that.  He called it a T5000 hull, but I haven't been able to find anything else calling it by that designation.

That whole deal sounds a little shady.  Good luck, and hope it works out good for you.

Well that's awesome info but yeah so far seller is super shady. Hopefully the boat is nice because I will be stoked to own it if it is. He said I can lake test it and swears it runs low 80s. I'm bringing a gps.

It should run low 80's with a mild motor. It doesn't take much to get these tunnels moving.

A friend of ours had one, seemed pretty light. If you shook one sponson up and down the other moved independently.
I believe it ran mid eighties with a 496 and would have done better with bottom work. I'm pretty sure they are deltas.

Talked to Jake Yeager and he said it's a flat keel. Which I believe is different than a Delta  but I don't know much about tunnels. I just know I'm over junk quarter stringer v bottoms.
