How strong is it?

My hull is stripped, No Engine, No Pump, No Interior except steering wheel and gauges. I need/want to flip it over upside down to fix a gouge and wet-sand, wax buff.

QUESTION: Will "2" of the three point loops hold the empty hull, Can I leave all weight off one of the back two hanging/hauling tie down loops for a second/minute or so well I juggle it over well hanging in a garage with large nylon straps?, I plan on putting rimless tires under it incase it falls but I still don't want a piece come ripping out and falling.

This pic shows the 2 straps holding it, Will just one hold it for a short period?.. Thanks. Roy.

I would maybe throw some bigger washers behind the eye's that you will be picking from....is there anyway you can throw the pump back in the hull just to flip it....the bowl makes one hell of a pivot point!

Wrap a strap once around the pump so it slips well hanging or roll the pump/boat over a wood plank/board that's on stands?? How do you use the bowl as a pivot point?

I can bolt it back on but I'd feel move confident in that if it was also epoxied back in and not just bolted in and I'm not going to epoxy it in till it's rebuilt/painted. I was hoping/planning on flipping and repairing the hull well it was out but if I have to, I'll do what I have to. Thanks for the help.... Roy

Yeah, he's running a JE Nordie. Putting it back in is pretty much a 1 shot/forever deal.

I'm not sure those tie down hooks would hold, myself, but obviously you're holding the boat up with 2 of them. Maybe come-a-longs on each of them and raise one/lower the other til it flips. keeps the weight on both of them to a point, but should be able to see trouble before it gets real ugly if its gonna. I dunno, just thinking out loud again.

yeah forgot about the je deal, but i still have seen it done with set-back pumps! same deal then correct! but think about this...at one point the two straps will be really close together...i have seen it done another way! someone took a pole, and used the holes where the intake goes and mounted the pole there = pivot point...take your nylon sling and put the eye around the pole and use your bow eye as your other mounting point pick the boat up and flip her over...whapow!

I do a slightly similar thing with straps when I hang 2 of my boats to work on them. Maybe you could try what I do (where the straps go under the hull fore and aft) and then just get some friends to flip the hull while the straps cradle it.

Just so you know....

When I had the shop, we used to lift 30' cruisers that weighed up to 12,000 pounds off the trailer with the eyes....The only difference being they were new boats, check for rotted wood and I believe you could lift the entire hull with just one of the three...(Just don't get under the fugger)...

Strong enough, I flipped it over today by using 3 heavy ratchet straps and a engine hoist, No Problem.. Roy
