No HIN number

I meet a guy that bought a boat he is
New to it and called me on a part I had for
Sale we got to talking and he asked if I would take a look an tell him what he needed to get it on the water I said sure when I took a look I found no HIN number the pink said unknown maker the guy he got it from said it was a 1978
Tahiti then he told me that the guy had no pink on the trailer and when he went to the dmv it wasn’t in his name so I’m getting a little fish vibe here the Boat dose not look like it had the hin number
Removed the gel matches and has the same faded color so my question is dose the hin number have to be in that back right corner are is it possible it would not have one thanks guys I just want to help this guy out and I’ve never seen a Boat with out it thanks jess

Hmmmm , boats before 1971 did not have hin number only after 71 as for the pinks if it’s registered to someone else walk away

Unfortunately for this guy he bought it and he had a pink for the Boat witch he had put in his name just not for the trailer I learned something from you I didn’t know it was 71 and after for the HIN number

I have a 71 Schiada and before I bought it I looked for a hin but didn’t have one , called my buddy at Blair’s speed shop and he told me that it’s pre 72

Find out if he knows the last owner , and see if he has the pink slip ? If it hasn’t been registered in over ten years there is a way to fix it at the shitty DMV

The Boat is registered currently and the guy he got it from had the pink on the boat just not the trailer and he already had the Boat put in his name I’m just worried if he gets pulled over the boat is registered as a 78 and has no hin what’s going to happen

U could try and contact the Dmv with the Licence plate # and they will be able to tell u when it was last registered, if it’s not in there system then u can fill out a form and get it done it’s like $25 for the form
