Placecraft hull
« on: February 26, 2014, 07:45:39 AM »
Guys just wondering about this hull? It's a 1983 placecraft jet, I have seen that their are quite a few variations of the placecraft tunnel hulls and was wondering if this would be a good lake boat / haul ass hull? Thanks for any input guys..

Just don't know a lot about them? Ride? Speed? Stability? I have had a couple of eliminator bubble decks and they seem to be a pretty ok all around boat? Not the fastest? Or not with out some big power anyway?

These are great hulls! they are basicly an updated bottom of a southwind tunnel dragster. they have dropped outer sponsoms and a better keel.  Lots of potential here for a quick river boat. theres no better ride than a tunnel.

I wouldn't dought it runs 80. My heavy ass southwind tunnel runs in the 90's with a 468.

I have a 496 in my other boat that's prob 525 550hp? It will push my bubble deck 76 mph so I would think it would do pretty good in this hull?

Did you add the rub rail to your boat? Seems like none of the ones I see have a rub rail?

rub rail was on it=just have the rail screwed on with no rubber==this boat use to race back in the 90's with an injected motor=was told it had a record back in 95/96=the guy who originally had the boat built said it can handle 160 no problem. i am building a new motor for it now=a 535 ford blower motor=there are some videos of it running on u-tube under justsquirtin

I going to go look at the boat next week.. Pretty sure I can pick it up for a good price.. Just didn't know a hole lot about the hulls? I know their are like gen 1,2 and 3s? With different setbacks? I just didn't want to be the one that got the pc hull that nobody wants?

Going to check this hull out today? Hopefully it's as clean as the pictures look? Think it would be a good hull at a pretty damn good price?

Had to leave it setting right where it was.. Wasn't near as clean as it looked in the pics? Lots of stress cracks? Exsp back by the offset for the pump? And someone try to fill in the rub rail and it was cracking all the way around the boat.. Shame! It would have been a nice hull..
