T-Deck
« on: December 24, 2013, 09:43:36 AM »
I'm thinking I want to swap over to a T-Deck next winter any suggestions on what one I should start looking for. The main reason is leg room being 6'3 and 260 might be more comfortable than my stwd 18.

Move your seat back and put a 6" extension on your helm.
T-Decks, generally, are smaller.
Not to mention the actual cut away on the dash of a T-deck is there for "emergency exit" so your legs wouldn't get caught under the dash.

Go to some fiberglass buckets in the 18 and ditch the back seats.

Want a Hondo/cole t deck for the leg room so I can run a second pedal to control the fwd/rev. Just don't know what my 76' stwd18 is worth.

"Wanting" a t-deck and "needing" a t-deck are two differentent things.
Depending on the hull, I don't really see you gaining anything other than aesthetics.
This sounds like more of a statement than a question.

These T-Decks do look really cool.  Picked this up last spring.  Going to throw the extra Olds we have in it.  Haven't had time to get it together yet tho.

I would wait and go with a 19 tunnel or gulwing tad. It will be worth it in the long run! ^-^

This is my Hondo T-Deck I picked up from a fellow member. I had 2 other projects going on when I bought this. I have always been a big fan of T-Decks.

Have you sat in a T-deck and tried it out yet? They are usually more narrow, especially at the front seat area where most boats get wider.
The t in the deck isn't real wide either.
I've never been in a t-deck before but, being on the larger scale myself  :sly:, I wouldn't see a t-deck being an option for "more comfortable".
They are cool looking though.

We haven't established anything. I was considering it so I could have the leg room to use a second foot pedal to operate fwd/rev. I don't have the leg room to do it with my current boat.

Just curious, nothing more,

Why the foot operated fwd/rev? Forgive me if too personal of a question.

Ever consider going electric?

My buddy has that set up on his Cole. It's spring loaded fwd and it seems to give him a lot control when easing up on to docks or boat ramps/shore almost like a clutch/or brake would. My lever is upside down and I just don't feel real confident moving around in tight spaces. Probably would be better if I flipped it back over. Id also like a little more room getting my long ass leg under the deck instead of having my knee bent. And like Beerjet said I do like the look. Might be a little winter time boredom.

I am 6'6" and 240lbs... I have never had an issue with dock control on a jet, as a matter of fact I have had three jets without a reverse gate.

I have never seen the setup your talking about with a foot operated gate control and to be honest it sounds sketch as hell. I did a boat for a guy that was missing his left forearm and obviously hand, I actually used an electric worm drive on the end of the cable and used a steering wheel mounted trim switch, he loved it.

Lol.... Why ? Just why ? Second pedals are for boats that haul so much ass the need a wing to prevent flying !  Correct me If I'm wrong but the boat your posting pics of doesn't look like tunnel dragster ? But hey I could be wrong...

No it's not a tunnel. But it does haul ass. It's probably more of a case of winter rambling!!!

Your better off just moving your seats back a few inches and adding a wedge to push the steering wheel up a little.
