Need some input. fiberglass is lifting  in my motor area and water is able to get in toward the front of the boat. Rains basically filled up a good 4" and im assuming mold has formed underneath the floors. I have lifted the boat up to drain as much as possible, but im afraid that wont solve the problem. The boat feels likes it has gained 200 pounds and i can hardly lift or move the boat like i used to. Should i fix the fiberglass and call it good or do i need to strip the boat down to see what it looks like. the boat is a '78 hallett 21'. Thanks for reading.

X2, do it right so someone else doesn't have to fix a mess later.  Chances are the reason its still heavy is because theres flotation foam under the floor, its wet now and will stay wet.  The moisture will cause the floors and supports to rot.  You have a big job ahead of you, but do it now before the damage grows and your floor looks like this.  This one was so bad that little piece of 2x4 was all that was left of the center brace.  This is one that someone just kept fixing the leak and never did it right, get the wet wood/foam out.

Man... That floors NASTY! Wonder what dumbasss bought that boat!       Id do it right and check for rot as well. I thought my floor was in decent shape until we found that mess under the carpet!

thanks for the input. looks like this weekend will be work and no play on the river. next question, who can i call for an estimate / direction. or can this be done myself. I have never dealt with fiberglass or pulling the floors on a boat.

so i decided to find out just how much water was under my floors the past weekend. found about a gallon or 2. got it out. how do i know if there is any damage or not? There was no foam or a lot of non-fiberglassed wood for that matter and it all looks ok, but i will be posting pictures when i get home so you guys can get a visual. just had my motor rebuilt so i probably wont have enough dough to replace the floors / fiberglass this season. 

well i ended up doing exactly that...i pulled some carpet back and cut a hole and vacuumed out some water that was in the bottom. planning on patching the hole back and deal with it in the off season.

Is that what happens when you drive it up on the rocks at long beach?

I'm thinking if you dry it out really good, and I mean good. Hit the wood with a bleach/water spray and let it soak in and dry, you should be good, keep an eye on the areas that got wet and make sure you give them a chance to dry out every so often, you'll be fine.

and i had the boat lifted with the cherry picker for about a half day. Water seeped out for most of the time i had it lifted. I found most of the water in the very front of the boat when i cut back some carpet/flooring. There is a support piece that held the water up there (how it got it, not sure). This shit is pretty hard to explain sometimes.
