Bimini Framework

Ok, I know you guys know the answer to this question but I don't so I'm here asking.  How do you measure the hull for the hardware and frame work of a Bimini top?  I know I'll be using Sunbrella canvas, but the framework has me stuck.   Thanks

I measured 6' of interior that I want covered (since I'm going with a 6' bimini) found the center 3' and marked on the flatest part of side and measured from side to side. I got 75" so I ordered one that was 73-78". Hope that helps. They also have a measuring guide on the website.

Hey Greg what size boat you wanting to put  a bimini on? You may want to check at Westmarine thats where I bought mine, and they have a measuring chart also. As for the framework dont even let that bother you. You only have TWO mounting spots for the whole frame. You then have four hooks to mount to the deck, 2 fore and 2 aft for the adjustable straps, reallly is easy. Just my 02 PM me if ya want some more info   Mark ;D

Mark,  I've got a 19' Miller Bubbble Deck like the ones Tom has been working on.  I used that chart from above and I think I can get one from Cabela's for around $160.00.  For about the same thing, West Marine wants $415.00.  I've got the frame that came with the boat but one of the tubes is bent.  I haven't really looked at it except to notice that someone burned some holes in it on the headers.

Ya if there is some burn holes that means it was mounted a little too far back. Having it rest or laid down on the top of the back seat is what is ideal, you have support for it when you are towing and of course no burns. Just make sure the material you are getting on the one from cabelas is material not vynl. Read the descriptions good to compare the two, to make sure they are comparable. You know the ole sayin   ya get what ya pay for ;D ;D  hope im somewhat helpful to ya     mark

Mark you and stc315 have been helpful and I think I'll look at the frame I have and see what's really wrong with it other than the bow that is in one of the frame legs.  Who knows, I may be able to make this work and buy the Sunbrella material and fix this one up just fine.  It could be that it was mounted wrong and got away from who ever had it before.  The color sucks anyway and to me it was too damn tall.  Could have built a part deck on it.  :D

lol too funny Greg and it reminded me of my first top. 1 of the poles got broke by a gal that was kickin it on the deck and we got nailed by some dumbasses big wake and she was falling off and grabbed  one of the poles as she was goin over. Took it to a place that fixed tents, canopies, etc and they replaced the one pole and only charged me 25 bucks. Getting just the top, fixin the one pole and mounting it in a good spot should save ya a lot of cash :o More $ for the gas, which is  :screwy:   mark

Mark,  This gas price crap is uncalled for too.  All congress has to do is let the oil companies expand their refineries and the drill for our own oil of which we could make the middle east and everywhere else look dry holes.  Then we keep our oil and natural gas, and tell them to eat their oil, we no longer export OUR food.   ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yep, I ordered one Wed night. Cost $231 and some change to my door for 6' long 36" tall canvas. I was going to order from Overton's but they didn't list the 6' canvas on their website, so I checked out Cabela's and found they were have a sale on biminis.

Well, I just looked at the old one that came with the boat and it's got an extra curve in it at the top of the main support pole so I guess it's toast.  stc, I need one the same size you ordered.  What was the part number?   Greg
