Is it necessary to remove the old carpet glue before installing new carpet?

This s*** is on there good if I do need to remove it what is the best method?

I have plenty of grinding wheels and respirators i also have a badass sander.

Doing it to mine today...Home d sells a product by Klean-strip called adhesive remover. Brush it on, let it sit then use a stiff spreader to wipe up. Comes right off...get a few rags to wipe the small areas the spreader didn't get.

I was gunna use jasco but i was afraid it would eat the glass too.
Do they sell decent resin at HD I also need to glass my seatmounts you can see in the pics.
They've never been sealed but i think they can still hold up another couple years at least.

the problem with a grinder is that it starts to gum up once it heats up.

i've heard of people using camping gas because it lacks the additives in todays gasolines that breaks down the chemical structure of fiberglass.


The stuff 'Your Mom' mentioned sounds promising, i'd give it a try

Cant buy it in CA...So gotta be sneaky on how to have it shipped. Went down there today and found this out...Its the only type for that glue I know of.

So HD in CA does  or does not have the stripper you're talking about?

Or are you saying you can't get the camping gas in CA?

Have you guys tried wax stripper for linoleum floors? I have had pretty good success with it.

I think the Depot sells it. I used Zep.

I had no prob removing it with a wire wheel. Made a mess but just vacuumed it out and had a prepped cleaned surface for new glue.

I used a wire wheel and it just turned into a consistency of used chewing gum once it warmed up. just kinda pushed it into a ball and i had scrape it up with a putty knife

I ended up using a wire wheel it didn't gum up at all just dusty A F.

Now i gotta finish sanding , paint,  lay the carpet, toss in the interior and head to the lake !
And drop in the fresh chevy of course
