Any secrets or tips for a first timer carpeting his boat?

Get a quality spray adhesive (I like 3M high strength 90) and a gallon of Weldwood contact cement.
Wear clothes you really don't care about.  Take your time and dry fit everything. I have even made cardboard patterns on difficult parts.

I agree with what gt said, I used loctite 300 seems to be working pretty good. I dry fit every part and trimmed in place and then glued it down. It's time consuming but take your time and do it right the first time. It took me 3 cans to do my boat and it wasn't that much carpet.

Awesome! Unfortunately all my seats are in and my enjine also so looks like I'll be painting around the couches haha but I'll definitely take your guy's advice

If you can, I would take the time to pull the seats. Probably save you a lot of grief.

Marine out door carpet trowel glue from home d...  I'd gel coat colors not paint. They can match almost any color.

Where's a good source to get carpet? I have all the seats out and new motor is still being built like to just replace it now. Also is it a good idea to sand down the wood and seal it where the false floor is?

I just did my carpet and I got carpet at the good ol Home Depot. Indoor outdoor carpet and a bucket of the indoor outdoor glue they got.

like GT said....best to lay it out dry and trim what you can.  just dont over due the trimming...so you done come up short when installing.

i just finished a carpet install on another members boat....came out really nice.  he was very pleased.   :beer:

(im not too far from costa mesa)

the seats are all white with red trim. Sorry I can't get a picture of it my boat is ripped apart still
