Carpeting
« on: December 25, 2007, 10:33:35 AM »
Hey guys....I'll be installing the carpet in my boat within the next couple of months and was just curious as to what the best type of adhesive would be to use on it.

Contact works pretty good, spread or spray both cpt and boat let em dry, and hope you get it right the first time. I'd make sure you get rug that has a marine back, or else it will just delaminate.

I used a spray grade contact and a 20.00 cup gun from Harbour Freight. Run it at 90lbs pressure and I use a block of hardwood with eased edges to press the contact together.

Hey Jet, when i put my carpet in I used a killer marine carpet glue from west marine. I used one of those serrated trowels to spread out the gluein big areas then lay the different carpet sections down. It has a slow set time so you can move them a little without worrying about being stuck in the wrong position. jus my 02   Mark

Hey gawnca. The best boat carpet I have a sample of is made by grasstex. Their specialty is astro -turf and putting greens . My brother took out all of his sod in his back yard, and used some of this. Anyways they make a product called bermuda colors, comes in black, white, blue, red, purple, and orange.

Too funny GAW, but who the hell knows maybe they have something thats similar to carpet. I know the carpet from west is expensive but it sure is dammn good, my boat is mostly at the river out in the open for 4 to 5 days at a time and it still looks like new

I used indoor/outdoor glue and a trowel.  Just be careful not to get the glue on top of your carpet :(

I think I'll just forgo the putting green and then I won't have to worry about the beer.  I know I'll have room and enough.  :D :D
