Foam strips in the front of the hull

Hey guys, i was pulling out the old dirty carpet and removed the board that separates the front of the hull and the interior. I found a buch of hard foam strips that were stacked in the closed bow portion.Are these necessary????They are chewed up, probably by mice or rats at somepoint, and a bunch of nesting crap was in there.I was going to carpet the front and put my speakers in that part.

So are these faom strips neede??Should i replace them or toss them????

Those strips are supposed to help keep the bow up if it is sinking.  A lot of boats do not use them.  You can replace them with Styrofoam peanuts if you are worried.

take it out and fill the bow with expandable foam...a few strips of foam arent going to keep it up!

I beg 2 differ , last weekend I forgot to put my plug in for at least 45 minutes!!! If it werent for the foam I would have sank my boat!! But beacuse of the foam my boat did not sink and my bilge pump was able to pump all the water out.

Now think if you had no power. For some unforseen reason your batteries died, now what? Do you think a few foam strips will keep that boat up forever?

I would rather it float for recovery then for it to sink!

I cruised around for about 20 min then beached it and was walking around talking to people , and 25-30 min later someone told me my boat was taking on water , walked over and looked and sure as shit forgot to put the plug in.

Thanks, these were all the answers i was looking for. I noticed some of the boats on here have the fronts all padded and upholstered so i was going to do that to mine so i can get freaky with a midget O0
