Foam
« on: April 22, 2009, 07:52:11 PM »
I found a guy who's working cheap on redoing my seats as long as I do the grunt work. We took the material off which was a bitch with alot of staples and he's going to redo the material and I'm going to redo some of the bad wood and refoam it. Does anyone around Burbank know of a cheap place to get some foam for the seats? I'm close to foam mart here in burbank but they are alittle high on price. Anyone have any connections on foam? Also I will let you guys know how it comes out and maybe if your willing to help the guy out he will give you a break on the price.... Info on foam would be great. Thanks Marty

Just an FYI, sponge is rediculously pricey, I paid over $500 for new sponge for the Carrera, three different densities two thicknesses...Is the old stuff junk?, maybe just a topper will do.

You can use like a 3/4" or 1" and cover over the old stuff and shape it with an electric carving knife to fit your needs (my pop dabbles in upholstery and is pretty damn good at it).

Just a money saving thought... :-\

the buckets I might be able to save but the 3 seat in the wrap around are gone. I don't need alot just enough to do the seats. The backing is fine.

Its backwoods and cheezie  ;D , but call around to wrecking yards and see if they have any motorhomes.....RV's typically have sponge mattresses and seat cushions.... ???

They will normally give it to you for free, because there is literally no recycle value..
