Thanks gents. Brad the boat has been great no issues at all!!! Only got it out a couple of times last summer but that will change this summer. I am going to change the interior up to the bench seat and one solid motor cover in back. Also adding a bulkhead up front to keep the life jackets, sand spike ect ect up under the bow. I am going with A-1 in Anahiem. Spoke with Riverguy553 who has the same boat and just had his done at A-1. He was very pleased with the work they did. Cant wait for that first trip!!!

awesome...glad to hear shes doing well. i loved that boat.

i always wanted to do the bench with a sun deck engine compartment deal. I've seen other southwinds set up that way and I really liked it.

While you have it apart, just double check the tanks. I had them repaired, but it wouldnt hurt to check them again. What happened (long before I had it) is the tanks broke loose and the only thing holding them in was the fill necks, so eventually the fill necks on the tanks cracked. Also, on the driver side, the sidewall of the tank got rubbed really thin from the wood of the seat rubbing on it. they welded a strip of aluminum to 'beef it up' a bit. I would just check for wear...hairline cracks...etc. also make sure my fiberglass job is holding up where i re-glassed in the tanks. I had one of them (driver side i believe) break loose after i fixed it ...so I redid the glass work much heavier.

anyways, glad to see her pop back up. glad shes getting some love. Hope to see you around this summer so I can remissness with my old boat lol

Brad i had the whole interior out of the boat about two hours after i bought it from ya haha  :screwy: I guess im one of those guys that has to take his new toys apart before i play with them. Ya i could see that the tanks had moved around in the past and had been fixed. They looked ok so i didnt mess with them much at the time. I am gona have them checked out along with some other little things. Im sure ill see ya around this summer. Riverguy Raul was great. I mentioned you and your boat and told him i had the same boat. He gave me a quote that seemed really fair even if he finds anything extra i may need to repair.

Stopped by A1 the other day to see if they had started on the boat. I kinda had a feeling that the stinger under the floor might need to be replaced and I was right. So its getting a new stringer all way to the front and new floor. I'm going to pull the tanks and remount them myself later on in the season or in the off season next year.  :banghead: damn boats!!!! Break out another thousand haha Oh well I love the boat and plan on keeping it for awhile.

Stopped by A1 to look at the boat. They have been super busy and finally cut the floor out to expose the rotten stringer. I can grab the stringer with my hand and move it back and forth about 3/4 of an inch :-\ New stringer and floor should be done by Monday and the interior should take another couple weeks. Once I get the boat back a couple friends and I are going to put in all new wiring, plumbing and gauges. So it should be damn near a new boat once it hits the water this year.

Couple photos of the bad stringer

Riverguy553 you posted while I was typing that up. To be honest I was hoping they would be further along at this point. Boat has been at A1 for nearly a month and you can see the progress. I guess I made the mistake of telling him I didn't need it until may. I am not really in a huge rush anyway and I am hoping that will help with quality and price. They are saying ill have it back end of the month. Ill post more photos of the new floor next week. The one thing I will say about A1 is they are very open to me stopping by to look at the boat and even tell me when to come back to take pictures.

If I was going to be around so cal longer, I'd buy this just for the hell of it. Southwind made a good hull.

i can understand your frustration.  they should be along a lot further than that for sitting that long.  i busted ass and cleaned out my hull in less than a day.  if i had 8 hours a day to work on it, it'd probably be done by now.   its one of those difficult situations where you dont want to complain and then they half ass everything just to shut you up... but if you dont say anything your deadline will come up quick and they'll halfass it anyways just to get it done on time...

Ya don't sweat it, mine was the same way, the first 5 weeks went super slow then all the sudden he's calling me telling me it's done. He was done 2 weeks ahead of my deadline I made. After my new floor went in he busted his butt! As far my interior it has been doing great, IV used it 3 times. The only thing I wish I would have had done was put a pocket for stuff in front of my cup holders, I really dont have no place for my phone or wallets that are close to reach!!

The price of it is great, a lake ready boat for 1500 hell yah but it's the deck, to me its just looks to short and rounded.

that CL ad is not a southwind. the entry (underside of the bow) is way too steep. the deck is wrong....unless it some weird mold. its not the same 20 cruiser i had.
