Gentlemen,

I am at a difficult juncture in my build and request your input.  The gauge set I like for my build (Autometer Phantom II) are not marinized per Autometer, yet the Autometer marine ProComp are available and the only ones they offer.  Livorsi has a comparable set of gauges, but look too much like the ProCOmp.




My question to all is this,  how many of you are using dedicated marine gauges vs. street gauges (non-marine) and for those of you who do not use marine gauges, have you suffered any failures with your system (gauge pack)?  If I'm spending all this dough, approx. to date $17K in parts and such, should I make it look good and the way I want it, or keep the system mainstreeam?

I have the Pro Comp gauges for my Sanger they look nice I believe are liquid filled and have glass lenses…… A friend bought Livorsi's for his boat, spent way more than me and got half the gauge. Plastic lenses lasted less than two seasons and are all around in my opinion not as nice as the Auto meters. Just my .02

Being in and around the high performance scene for so many years I too am a fan of AutoMeter gauges. I have the Ultra-Lite series in my jet boat, and they are not the marine series and I have had no issues with them, all around I think AutoMeter makes a fantastic and stylish product. I'm my opinion not everything has to be marine approved, it's just another way to charge a higher price. "Oh, wait, it's going on a boat?, that will be an extra $100"....

Auto meter in what ever style you want. I've always ran them in my boats. Not one problem. Marine =100$ more for basically the same thing.

In some cases plastic internals to resist corrosion...


"Marine" generally means anti-corrosion for salt water applications or enclosed engine compartments.
So in our fresh water applications, just about anything with work but you do get what you pay for...depending on what you pay for.

I think I'll go with the Phantom all gauges.  I can get all gauges in the size I want. When I have everything done, and she's in the water, her name will be "The Ferryman", with an airbrushed rather mythical and evil looking guy on the bow. The motor is done and ready to go in, work on the stringers is in effect now.

Stewart Warner gauges have served me well.
OEM for a lot of equipment.

it looks like they dont fit in the holes... you need to find a set of trim rings.
