I could be wrong, and I hope someone will correct me if I am, but I believe that AN has a different angle to the flare then does JIC

"AN fittings are 37 degree flare and JIC come in both 37 and 45 degree. AN fittings were developed by the Air Force and Navy (hence AN) and are supposed to be manfactured to tighter tolerances than JIC. The differance has to do with the tolerances of the threads, although the exact differances I don't know. From what I have delt with AN fittings are used in aerospase and racing. JIC is used in industrial applications."

My understanding is that the Rewarder and Bassett T's are regular flare (JIC) type, but AN is fine, especially at the low pressures we're operating at. I have one of each here, but musta got rid of all my -8 AN hose ends somewhere else I'd verify that. I don't think it matters, 'cuz I've run with AN fittings and even 5/8 hose shoved over with a hose clamp with zero leaks. Well, ONE.......but that don't count because the hose clamp forgot to tighten itself before we got on the lake......

This Basset header tee is also the valve correct? I took mine apart tonight. I have wayyyyy to much water goin through the exhaust at idle. Steaming at idle too. So anyway got it out and I ran water through the top where water first enters the valve from thermostat. Water ran right through the valve. Debris came out and as I continued running water through it all of a sudden it decided to close and it held water on top of the ball valve. So I'm assuming my valve was stuck open. Is this a proper way of testing? If not what is and what's the best way of fixing/cleaning and preventing this fro. Happening again? Kinda scary ... boat ran fine but I pulled plugs and water is clearly in plugs
