bayjet q?

i am new to the jet boat scene and im looking at buying a sleekcraft with a bayjet pump in it. i have been looking for parts availability but cant seem to find much on these pumps. and help will be greatly appreciated

bayjets are no longer being made nor supported. get ahold of Tom at Jet Boat Performance(also here on the boards) and he can tell you more

Long story made short my boat ended up with a Bayjet( w/ Berkley intake) set-up by Roy Mersch in the 70's been rebuilt and modified thru the years by MPD, Jack McClure, works very well for my application, BBC < 500HP, still going strong 33 years.

I don't have much experience running one, but I had one that the bearing went bad in....I really like the suction housing. Seems very strong. Uses a stack of rubber lip seals instead of the berk rope seal, has a solid casting for the bearing boss instead of the one with the window to allow for installation of a rope seal. The entry vanes on the bowl are kinda cheese though. The berk shaft I don't think will fit. If you're not putting a lot of power to it, I'd think they'd be OK...put a bearing in it before you run it though....as I recommend for all pumps with unknown history.

The Bayjet is actually a very good piece and the intakes are desirable (several popular "low pro's are very similar) The suction works well but the downfall for this jet is the bowl which needs enormos work (or replacement ) to perform Recently talked to a guy who had a 7 MPH (55 to 62) increase on his Bay with only a basic rebuild and a Berkeley Bowl Tom
