loader grate

will a loader grate cause your pump to produce more pressure=never had a problem with blowing hoses off before=took boat out this weekend and kept blowing water lines off=berkeley jg pump w/ b impeller/500hp 460 thanks doug

I'm no expert but here's my $.02-
A loader grate does exactly as the name implies, it loads more water to your pump, more water in your pump means more volume is being sent to your water takeoff, more volume doesn't always equate more pressure but it sometimes can, did you try to throttle back your gate valve on the H2o intake and see what happened?

Doug the loader (especially that one) will/can increase pump pressures which BTW should be monitored, sorry to hear about the "lines' hope alls well give me a call the first of the week I'll explain more Tom

thats why all my lines are A/N fittings and high pressure hose. hope your not using heater hose

first time out with this set up=not sure what to expect=so yes i still had same hose setup as before will be doing some change over and i thought someone on here posted something about pressure regulating it all=i was working the water valves also during testing but was running out of daylight = thanks for the input

a loader not only redirects the flow of water to specific areas of the impeller, but can also pick up additional water depending on the ramp design or block water from entering the intake depending on the design.

for example, I have two loaders that are similiar in design. On one loader the ramps extend 1-inch further forward than the other. One loader causes my boat to blow the tail and overcharge the pump. The other does not.

You'd be real surprised to find out which one it is too.

remember, there are very few absolutes in the world of water and jet pumps so try everything because what seems like it might not work on paper may very well work in the water. Also, what might work great in some conditions might suck ass in others.
