Another question gentlemen? The model # of my pump is "12JC-A, do you suppose the 'A' indicates the cut on the impeller?  Thx, Rick

Yes, when it was built. Things have a way of magically changing over the years.

Thx, GT for the reply. I'm not after more speed, only use the boat for skiing and tubing. Would an 'A' cut be sufficient? (Btw, powered by a 455 Olds)   Rick

IMHO, the A impeller is the absolute best at all around modest horsepower applications. The secret is on the condition of the impeller, wear ring and installed clearances.

Thx for the help GT, I am installing a new impeller and wear ring...

If your impeller is in good overall condition with minimal cavitation burn,  you could simply have it machined and purchase an undersized wear ring.

Obviously if the impeller has excessive pitting it would be time to replace it.

Thx for all the help in the past, GT. I installed an 'A' impeller and std wear ring. First time out last wknd, she performs like a new boat!! ;D Another question, can I replace the packing glands with the pump fully installed in the hull?   Rick

Yes you can it's a little tricky but with the right tools you can replace them.  Hopefully they aren't rocked too bad in there.
