Steve, it's funny I went from that Dom bowl to the detailed berk and now probably going to look for another Dom bowl (detailed) for my new build lol
Ugh one step forward two steps back haha

Are you going to give detailing that bowl a shot?

They look killer! What kind of gains do you think one could expect just going from that same bowl with no detailing, to the type of detailing your showing here?

for what stark has mentioned  a stock dom is better than a worked berk.

The gains would likely be in ET  only. Going out on a limb,  boat for boat,  no other changes or enhancements,  .05 to .10 seconds. 1000 foot.

A box stock Dominator bowl w/o stuffer plate replaced one of our best detailed Berkeley G bowls w/stuffer plate on 418, Chris's Daytona.  This boat was very consistent, running 8.0 its first pass off the trailer at Firebird.

Chris concluded that the two were very close.  He did say, "It (stock Dominator bowl) didn't tug down the engine quite as hard" as the fully detailed Berkeley.  I attribute this to turbulent flow not building pressure quite as fast, however the number was there.

Another case, a fully-detailed Dominator replaced a fully-detailed Berkeley on a deadly consistent 9.0 second gullwing.  The boat ran consistently .15 seconds quicker with the fully-detailed Dominator bowl, requiring reprogramming of the electronics to again run the number.

Granted, these are not back-to-back repeatable tests, it is a fair analysis.

So is that type of bowl considered the "new style" dominator that everyone wants? I may just get a new one from you guys at B1 when the time comes

I have wondered about the amount of veins in a bowl and how much that really plays into things? I have a 8 vein dominator bowl that I picked up from Tom at jet boat performance when I picked up my boat... Those bowls in the pick look like 9 vein? But I've hard 11 vein? Just curious?

I don't know the differences. But I only count 8 veins in all of the ones in this thread

For me I picked up an early dom bowl from Jake. Tim at Place turned the outlet to match the droop, and I bolted it to my JC pump. Didn't do anything else to the bowl. I by no means have a high dollar engine, but I will tell ya, that thing launches like a mofo!!!!!  Big difference  Just my .02 cents worth

There is a 9 vane bowl that I have from Aggressor,  I was never impressed by the actual end of day performance, but I will tell you it held the engine down harder (shown as a loss of about 100rpm) but never saw a increase in top speed (never tested for ET because it was a marathon boat) and I always wanted to use a smaller impeller to get the rpm back to see what it would do,  never had the time or the funds.

All I know is when I went to B1 the last time. I was talking to joe. And I guess I have an older style bowl. Not the early small exit one. But the in between one. It has the flat edge machined into it

Boost has the older style that I was talking about.  If you will note the shape of exit side vanes compared to that of Jake's (new) Dominator bowl.  The vanes are longer and have a slightly different contour.  They were available with different shapes on the outside, one radiused and one with several angle cuts.  The water lubricating bowls are less desirable.

Here is a picture of an unmodified grease lubricating "old style" Dominator.

For being a river boat the new pump setup I have now performs much better then my stock deal  I'll never see .15 seconds gains as a race boat would at the track by having a more desirable Bowl. Lol
