Dominator pump questions
« on: April 27, 2015, 03:36:50 PM »
What are these 2 fittings for? one outside of hull on the jet and one inside the hull on the jet. One has a little airline hose running to an oil pressure guage which I believe the previous owner was using it as a water pressure?    the other 1 inside the boat was broke off? Sorry for sideways pics can't figure out how to rotate them on this site

The reason for the pressure gauges on the pump is to monitor changes in pressures when you're making changes to loaders and other fine tuning tricks generally for racing applications.  For a typical river boat you won't need that kind of accuracy.

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

So would I be able to just plug these 2 holes and get rid of the hoses coming out of them.

This one is typically a zerk fitting for lubing the thrust bearing.  It looks like someone has tried to convert it to an oil bath and what is pictured is the remains of an oil level indicator.  I am betting that there was a glass tube inside that cutaway tube to indicate oil level.

I would convert back to a grease zerk, clean out the bearing, and pack with fresh grease.
