It should help some. I would get the long droop and maybe a ride plate but it could affect reverse.

i was gonna ask the same question about a droop.  when i was looking at them, all of the ads said up to 18ft. but what would happen if you put it on something big like a 24ft or a 21ft sanger like i have?

I was always told that a droop snoot dont work on anything 21' and bigger because they create lift at the transome . Trying to lift a 21' and bigger boat at the transome is a huge undertaking . Now if you had tons of power on tap , that would probably be a diffrent story . I cant imagine a droop would hurt . I am going to try this with my 21' hallett and see what happens . Some boats will react diffrently than others and really one should try it if you really want to . In theory , I dont see it making a noticable diffrence on a heavier boat though .

Now there is also a "snoot" pretty much the same thing but it doesnt have a drop like the "droop snoot" does.

1. The straight snoot works on a slighlty diffrent concept . As apposed to lifting the boat at the transome , it works more like a lever lifting the bow.

2. The straight snoot also is straight of course which means the water doesnt bend twice before it exits the nozzle which in theory slows the water down .

3. A snoot also means the water travels inside a tube longer before it exits . Thrust isnt created until the water exits the nozzel. How long do you want water to travel in a tube before it exits ? Is it worth the extra drag ? Does that mean that the water friction generated along its path slows the water down too . I dont know .

These are things I have read on both sides of the opinion . A JC type bowl flows better than a split bowl so why even bother with droops and wedges and ride plates and shoes and so on and so on . Just put a diverter on it and call it good right . Or....

I have no idea what I'm talking about. 

I've noticed that most of the jet drag boats out there run straight snoots w/o a Place diverter. I've noticed that people spend major cash on setting their pump back, is this to move the intake of the pump back and/or get the water to exit further out the back?  I've noticed that most family type performance jet boats professionally built have droop snoots and Place Diverter's. I think you want the water to exit as far back as possible and the intake as far back as possible. I've read many times that the further back the water exit is the "bigger" the boat feels in handling chop and in turning. How big is too big on that "feeling"? But then again I have no idea what I'm writing about. 

Make that one more thing  , my really old Place Diverter on my Rogers is 1 1/2" longer than any Place Diverter currently made, is there a reason that Place shortened it? 

I have noticed that when I go down to Ultra every single Jet Boat they make comes with a set back pump ,droop , and place diverter. All of there boats seem to more then 21' so there has to be a reason for them to do it and not just be looks. Maybe you could call them and and just run it by em and see what they say.

I dont work for ultra so I dont exactly know what there reason for doing it is but , By putting the nozzle back further it does make the boat more stable (kind of like a longer lever on the back of the boat) . The ride plate at WOT (thats when the boat is mainly on its keel) fools the boat into thinkin its bigger also giving you more stability . I can only assume ultra does it as a standard just like rogers used to put split bowls and full stringers as a standard . I really dont see it hurting the performance , but as to whether or not it helps significantly I dont know .

Most hardware is designed with a funtion in mind . When other variables are introduced like setting the pump back with a droop snoot , the entire combo significantly improves the handling along with it initial purpose in mind.

thanks for the responses.  Perhaps I'll see about borrowing one before I make a purchase.  If there aren't any real gains, I guess there isn't any loss...  Soooo, anyone have an extra laying around???   

can you double up on the droop snoot and a snoot?
