Going to the Xlerator from JBP

Good evening have a few questions....well i pulled the trigger on getting the new pump...ive been wanting to do this since last year....right now with a tired jacuzzi wj with a A impeller im running right at 65 with a olds....my hull is a 18ft Mantra light/medium layup its a splash of a sleekcraft sportster....im going to add the diverter as well but what are the benefits of the droop with it? Im thinking if i get it done might as well add it...i currently have no issues cavitation or proposing its reliable...the reason im getting this done cause ive noticed ive been running a higher rpm to get the same speed and do not want to wear the engine out...by no means am i trying to break speed records or anything...engine is a 455 bored 40 over with a cam and stroked with big valve c heads about 100 hours on it

I learned that all boats are different and like different things. Will the droop work for you? Possibly! Will it start proposing like a maniac? Maybe! Lol
Point being, and this is only my silly opinion, get the pump done(which is way exciting!) and see what it does and how it feels. THEN start tinkering with it if you want.

So are you just getting new stock internals in the pump or upgraded?

I agree with this. I've never tried a droop, but I've read multiple times about others experience plus some guys that own well respected shops have said all boats are different. Weight, bottom, horsepower, jet build are all factors. Another thing that has been repeated is 1 change at a time.
Tom and Josh at JBP have always been very helpful. Definitely give them a call. Place diverter is also a good place to call.
There is also different drops of the droop.

Josh and tom are the ones that are doing it for me and installing everything...jet boat performance is the only shop that even touches my boat totally trust them...he recommended the droop and diverter so i think im going go for it and try it....he knows my engine so im confident it would work....just dont have any experience with droops

He is building it now....but im in no hurry...would be nice to have it done before the next event but im planning on it the last week of August...

So he is not using your current pump, right? So when you get it, it should be just a remove and replace (I was going to say a simple swap, but I know nothing is ever really simple)

I was thinking how you said you noticed your RPM's going up. That usually is a sign of a leaking pump, wear ring worn. Like I said, hopefully you'll notice a big difference.

Awesome! if your worried about a full droop you can always ask tom about the HPH from place diverter. it has only 3.5* up where the droop has 8.5* up angle

Well talked to Tom and we are going with the droop and diverted as well...cant wait till its installed...should be cool...i know my wife is going to put the diverter up to blast me off the tube...and i will enjoy it hahahahahaha

Yeah i bet....the whole reason behind getting the new pump is really to save my engine from the high rpms....its a old but it is built good and has all the power i need...and if it does go in a few years at least the pump will be able to handle whatever i decide to go with..but i feel i have at least another 2 or 3 seasons before a refresh

I am eager to hear your feed back on the kit. I also just ordered the kit to replace my Panther but didnt go with the droop or diverter. I have a stock 454 powering it and dont want to kill the motor with high rpm's. Please let me know how it goes once you have it installed. Good luck with everything

Well the ol mantra is up at JBP....already miss looking in the driveway and its not here....so going woth the HPH droop, polished bowl, inducer, and manual diverter, and a tune up on the olds....im just glad to get it done cause i wanna keep the rmps down on the olds...its a reliable engine and still has another rebuild left on the block..

Picked the boat up yesterday...looks great and rides even better...took it to nacimento it was almost dark but from being in the water thru the 5 mph zone it didnt wander then when i hit it..it was right on plan and extremely smooth...i may go out to bv for a bit this afternoon but not to sure

I was out last night for about 10 mins cause it was dark....but yes it gets right on plane and glides right across the water...this friday going to the delta and run it for the day....next step is new gas tanks bulk head and floor...

Yes runs way better....for the impeller went from a 5 blade WJ A to Aggressor custom cut AA.....rpm wise is cruise at a lower rpm about 400 less but at a higher mph....I’ve gotten on the gas a few times and it is still pulling at 4800 and i let off.....the main reason i got the work done is to make the engine not work as hard when pulling the tube and bar hopping spot to spot....can really tell on the gas saving too....a few hundred rpms difference shows on the gas gauge for sure
