Hard steering at high speed

Has anybody heard that you can fix a hard steering problem by replacing the nozzle o-ring on a place diverter?

Is it difficult to turn the wheel while on the trailer or just at high speed?  The O-ring should add slight drag, but not substantial resistance.

Steering is easy on the trailer and at slow speed. The faster it goes, the harder it steers. I've gotten used to it but it's hard for my wife to drive.

Post a pic of your pump and steering arm. It should get harder but not impossible. Rack and pinion? Rotary?

Sorry, can't post pics. The boat's at the river. It's a 99 Advantage 20.5 classic, aggressor jet, place diverter with cable steering.
It's not impossible to turn but harder than it should be.
Thanks.

Sounds to me like you need to replace the bushings and the o-ring.

If the o-ring is worn, or the wrong one, it can jamb with the pressure.

Make sure it is centered as well. Too high or low will cause some weirdness also.. What kind of angle is the cable at? You may need a clevis on the attachment point. (If you don't already have one).

Also, is this a new problem? Or a day one thing?

It's a problem that has gotten steadily worse. I hadn't really noticed how bad it had gotten until my wife tried to drive it last weekend.
Yes, there is a clevis at the attachment point.
Thanks

How are the pin bores in the droop and the nozzle?  If they are egged out, pressure against the nozzle could cause binding.

Cable could be going out.
I replaced mine from the wheel back.
Turns like a dream now.
