Ok, I have read and searched on PB.com and even posted there cause I need to see pictures on how to grind back the stops on the nozzle. I don't want to start a debate on "don't do it" and I am going to pop the O-ring out. The people at PB just never posted any pics on how they did it. I just want some higher roost for show-boating going past the sand bar. My roost is really really long esp. this year with the power I have. I just want it to be higher. I know it does nothing for performance and yes i have adjusted my cable to get the highest possible right now and also have a 4 degree wedge but do not want to put a droop snoot on it either.

basically what i did with mine was put it full up...whatever was stopping it from going further, grind it down...put it back up, grind some more.

I have two 4 degree wedges with a 8 degree rooster booster...16 degrees total. I cant get my place diverter to angle any more then it is because the hydraulic ram i have is maxed out. So unless I change the mounding position of the ram, I had to wedge the crap out of it. Yes, my roost is stupidly huge, and yes, its really hairy driving it while its full up. (kinda wonders on its tail)

my diverter is in rough shape only because im not fully finished with it. once i get it where i want it, i will make it pretty

here is some pics...

this is a pic above shooting down. I did a lot of detail grinding in here. make sure you dont take too much off or else it will leave a gap when its full down.

side view of the grinding described above...

and the obvious place is the reverse cable arm where it meets the diverter cable arm. obviously, dont grind too much off to make either of these arms weak.

i hope this answers some questions....if you have anymore or need different pics, just let me know.

Thanks Brad for the pics. Did you take the whole thing apart to grind it. What I mean did you take all the bushings out and disassemble it to grind as I am pretty good working with metal and aluminum ;D. I do not have a problem doing this as I have another set of white nylons (whatever you call those things for the bushings.) Oh and my diverter is manual.

I have a 12 JE pump, and I ground up about half of the word "BERKELY" on the housing, and also had to notch the reverse cup to clear the top bolt above the "BERKELY" to get maximum angle. It gained alot of roost, and still drives great at full trim. It still shoots a very long roost--250+ feet, but is kind of low,--20-25 feet like you say yours is. This is my first jet, an 84 BAJA SPORT 200, so I am still learning, and I plan on doing some more research on this topic too. I hope your post gets lots of ideas for both of us!

Here is mine from last year. This is with the blower but I have over 300 more HP from last year after dyno tuning it this year. The length is good but I want more height. I think I am going to take the diverter off on Sat. and see what I can do.
Careful language in the video. I found this video 2 weeks after I went to the CT river. I do not know this person who took the video.

Thats almost exactly how mine looks after the mods I did T.J.  It sounds like now you are makeing a bunch more HP than me, so I'm sure once you start grinding, your rooster is going to be awsome!

I would not even think of recommending this to any one else on the forums....But you need to build a Chrunyk style slotted steering nozzle, you would have both the ridiculous hillbilly rooster and still handle like a European sports car...

Basically the idea is to have the top of the stainless steel nozzle open with a slot about 1 1/2" wide....

I would like to chime in on this thread if i may, well im new to this site as you can probably see, as this is my first post. Im going to be buying a jet boat here pretty soon, im just doing my home work and gathering as much info as possable. I was a jet ski fanatic for year and thought to my self, lets bump it up to a 19FT. + hull and a big block! So this is my start here on these threads. Here is my old ski that i built...2003 gp1300r

ok lets jet boat rooster tails.. I saw this vid on youtube the second boat (the blue one) has a wicked rooster tail. Now how many degrees is his diverter set at, that has to be custom? when I do purchase my boat i gotta have a squirt gun like that!

I took the diverter off today and took the nozzle off. It was cake. The bushings are cake. The nylon liners were fine. I used my bench mounted belt sander to make a nice smooth radius. I also measured the angle with a digital angle finder before I started and after. I was able to gain 2.5 degrees. I would remove some material and mock up to make sure the nylon O-ring was not getting exposed. I could not remove any more material than that to gain more than 2.5 degrees, otherwise I would expose the nylon O-ring. Sorry no pics. We will see if I gain any more height tomorrow.

This is a picture of my belt sander set up.

I wouldn't worry so much about that. Them things are apparently bulletproof. I could see a good 2" length of Rivertards O-Ring on his boat with no apparent problems. 'Sides, you now know how easy it comes apart to fix it!

...........Just remembered who I was talking to.............We're gonna see a billet upswept nozzle here pretty quick aren't we.........

Did a search and found this thread, does anyone got any pics of how far to grind on a Berkeley 12je place diverter for a higher roost. I just installed mine and haven't tried it yet but was reading on here that if you grind on the housing you can get a better angle to shoot the roost higher. Been raining here so I cant try the new diverter out yet.
