Hydraulic diverter issue!
« on: September 11, 2013, 05:13:41 PM »
I have an issue with my diverter. It only wants to go up.  The motor just makes noise when i push down, but doesn't move. Tried a different Bennett pump today and it did the exact same thing. If I reverse the hydro lines I can get it to go down but not up. Anyone run into this issue before? It use to work great, then went out on me.I also have a new toggle switch I swapped to see if that was it but no. Any thoughts?

Could be the button or switch. Mine did the same thing. Those Bennett pumps are shit though. I hate mine. Going to a better one this winter

Do the red and green wires mean the solenoids are different or are they the same?

check the wiring first then the switch second.buddies did the same thing and the yahoo that installed it before he sold the boat put both wires on the diode so it would only go up and not down.or crack the the lines and see if you get fluid out of either hose at the pump

I shouldn't have diodes if I have the toggle switch. I do not have the steering wheel switch.

pumps might not be the issue might be the switch. its a three pole swicth and im sure they use diodes too so you dont surge the solenoids and burn the pump up.also take the ram off and put air to it to see if its not stuck blow the top hole it should go down blow out the bottom one etc etc

Bench tested my pump. Positive to the motor and green works and pumps out one fitting. And positive to motor and red works out the other fitting. Now I am going to try with the lines hooked up to the ram and see what happens.

Hooked up the lines to the pump. Hot wired the positive with motor and red, goes up. Hot wired the motor and green, the ram doesn't move. Pump still makes normal operating sounds.
