ive tried everything... when i took it out last time it wasnt nearly this difficult.  i used regular silicone to seal it and i had a tiiiiiiny weep at idle but a big squirt leak when i was on my way...



it moves... but it doesnt release.  i picked the whole boat off the trailer with just silicone holding it in... what the hell!



the whole point of all this is to use this plate to be able to get the seal nice and tight...



im hoping i can get it out, get everything cleaned up and sealed with 3m 5200 marine silicone so i never have to mess with it again...

you think you cant get it out now wait till you put the marine shit in there

with the 5200 at least it wont leak and ill never have to touch it.  (hopefully)

What you will hope is that it doesn't leak or need an overhaul ever again, that 3M stuff is no joke. I put some on my through transom tips and let's just say I will probably be running them for the life of the boat now!

i guess ill give the marine grade silicone a shot. i dont remember what i used last time.  i think just regular clear silicone.  everything was okay with the exception of one lower bolt hole had a leak.  i just figure with the way the panther is designed that whole lower siliconed area is under a lot of pressure. 

Regular marine silicone works just fine.....

Yeah mine was a real pain to remove also!  i wedged a couple putty knifes thru the silicone and finally it broke free. I used just the 3m marine silicone to seal it up and its going on 3 years now leak free. I had to back the forward and reverse cable out of the pump to get it out of the boat also. You have to unhook it from the control and spin the whole cable out (real pain in the @#$) .
 Yeah the mechanical seal in mine died as well as the bearings. I was lucky enough to catch it before the impeller started eating the housing.
 My panther works decent now.

First you should have the engine removed....

Have you tried a little heat? not a torch, but a heat gun.....pulling up will never remove it, you need to push it rearward..

well i finally got it out.  i tried the "go down" method with it... which resulted in me standing on the pump jumping on it.  it didnt even budge.  (the lift is to lift the motor up off the pump, no need to remove the entire motor...

what worked was lifting it up, which opened the area between teh transom and the pump enough for me to take a hacksaw blade and shove it in there and start hacking away at the silicone between em.  then i jumped on the pump some more and it finally broke free.
