I have a set back dominator with a dropsnoot. My question is how do I "zero" the cable so it gets full "left and right" turning. My buddy gave me a 5 in steering extension but I had to extend (pull) the cable to make it fit. 1. Do I need a longer extension 2. if I do how do I measure to find the right one
Well, if I understand your question correctly.
The first order of business is to have the cable loose from the pump and turn it from lock to lock counting the rotations. Divide the rotations by half, rotate the wheel to that point.
This centers the rack.
Now set the nozzle dead straight, the deficit, minus the adjustment left in the steering tube is your measurement.
Sometimes you can flip the steering tube around (front to back). And it can afford you the distance you need to make up.
Obviously in a perfect world, you would center the adjustment in the steering tube and make an extension the exact length to keep everything dialed in, you can then use the adjustment in the tube to center the steering wheel.
