Jacuzzi 12YJ disassembly

I have the pump removed from the boat and trying to remove the bowl from the housing. I removed the 9/16" bolts and was able to seperate the bowl by about 1/8'' and at that point I can not turn the shaft by hand and was hesatint to go any further. I have not removed the nozzle or reverse bucket yet because i figured that may be easier once I have the bowl on the bench!

Are there any other steps required prior to seperating the bowl, such as removoing the water tube or c clips on the end of the shaft,, jus guessing at this point or possibly jus some times a bear to seperate

The YJ has a circlip inside the front of the housing (kinda fun to get to, a LOT of brake cleaner to see it, my friend). The splined end, that is. However, the bowl SHOULD still come off with that still in place. The shaft would simply remain in the suction housing.

Could be simple vacuum giving you fits. Remove the nozzle, or at least, remove the zerk fitting clear up inside there. If it's a really bad bearing in the bowl and/or shaft, gonna take some wiggling and hammerng to get it off. Idea....... I did one here was to remove the zerk, put in an air hose fitting and hooked up the compressor. Bowl popped right off! Almost ballistical

I just noticed the water pipe part of that......is this the Golden Eagle Version? Probably not, and yes the pipe should be removed regardless.

Thanks Ray,

I kind a figured it should come right off with a little force but it seems as once you start seperating the bowl the impeller gets tight against the inside of the bowl and I was afraid of damaging the impeller. Maybe a liitle more prying and it will slip by?

Do not keep prying on it ! The impeller is not hitting the bowl, its hitting the wear ring, and the wear ring is stuck in the bowl. Disassemble the front bearing section and slide the shaft out of the suction housing. Then you can work on freeing up the the wear ring.

There is a diagram on the JBP site showing where everything is.

I finally figured that out Propless

. I disasembeled the end that has the splines and still had problems, also ran out of time.

was calling my name seeing how my buddys shop is right behind another friends bar

so ill take another look in the morning to see if i missed a c clip or something.
