I'm going to run a blaster 2. One problem I have is that a buddy and I pulled the old distributor and I'm not sure if I'm at TDC. Should I put the old one back in pull the coil wire and find TDC or can I do damage this way? THANKS
If you know for sure where the rotor was pointing before you pulled the old distributor out then just put the new distributor in pointing in the same exact direction and orientate the spak plug wires exactly how it was on the old distributor.
If you didn't look at where the rotor was pointing before you pulled the old distributor out then you'll need to find TDC for the compression stroke of the number one cylinder. Actually, put the number one cylinder on it's compression stroke at where you normaly time your engine at (when it's at idle), so if you time the engine at 10 degree's before TDC put the number one cylinder at 10 degree's BTDC. Install the new distributor pointing the rotor at number 1 cylinder. Install the distributor cap with the number 1 spark plug wire directly above the rotor and finish out the firing order on the distributor cap (Chevy clockwise, Ford counter-clockwise).
