this is the name on my diverter handle has anyone ever heard of them. also there is an insert in my nozzle with the same name also says 3.125 on it. i assume this is the dia. if im correct does that sound like the right size? 18' Kona 454 kinda tired A impellor runs about 4900rpm

I don't know of the JDH thing, but IMHO, nozzle inserts are a trial and error deal and really only have good results on lighter hulls and more than normal HP, not saying it wont work on your boat. The 4900 RPM sounds to me like you're in the ball park. ;)

JDH precision was Jim D Henn, the diverter was known as The Bushwacker.  From the stories I've been told he was a former employee of Place Diverter.  They're a little heavier castings than a place diverter but for all intensive purposes look very similar.  JDH experimented with putting vanes through the center of the nozzle on some of the later units.  I've also seen them with small wings protruding from the sides of the reverse exit.   My dad bought one new around 94 for our family boat, i always like the sticker of the hillbilly holding a shotgun with two smoking barrels, on the reverse bucket :D

well although i lack the cool sticker you speak of i did end up with the nozzle with the vanes you are talking about when i bought the boat. what was the purpose of those supposed to be? that being said i ran into a guy at the lake this weekend that said he bought his boat from your dad i think black boat with blue carpet and graphics. nice looking boat
