I like the Chaparral the best out of the modern jet boats (like Yamaha, Scarab, etc...)I was talking to the engineer, he gave me some interesting facts. 250 horse supercharged motor with an axial pump. 43-45 mph top speed, downhill with the wind on your back. Closed cooling system. The wear ring in the jet is plastic. He told me that the impeller to wear ring is an interference fit when assembled. I asked if there is any way to disengage the jet for service? He said no. Then I asked how the shop can service/repair the engine without messing up the pump. He was quiet for a minute, then told me the jet is easy to remove. Didn't look easy. They want 45k for that boat. I'd take a Shockwave, Nordic with a Berkely or Agressor any day over that. Doesn't even compete.
