Internet was down all day her eyesterday, so that ended any more online help. Anyways, I took the motor apart, cleaned up the armature, and brushes, even though they did not look very bad. Put it back together, and it worked a little bit. took it apart again, lubed it up, and adjusted the "end play" settup on the gearcase housing, and it ran fine. I ran it for a while in both directions to seat the brushes properly, and put it back in the boat. After all this I discovered I had another problem. The high, and low limit switches are not working,--allowing the motor to jam the whole works into the housing either all the way up, or all the way down. I was able to use a jumper wire off of the starter solenoid to get the trim back into a mid-way position without tearing it apart again. Long story short, We used the boat all day yesterday and only moved the trim around a little bit just to keep the boat from plowing. Boy do I miss my rooster tail!!! I'm sure I will get it all figured out this week, and since both high and low swithes quit working at the same time, it is most likely just one problem.
Also, if anybody ever needs the motor for one of these, there is a GM/DELCO part number on it, and all the major parts houses have them----not in stock, but they can order them and have them in 1-2 days. They are about $55, with a $15-$25 core charge.
