Over loading the pump

I have not measured it, but both my shoe and loader hang below the keel a good bit.

My boat is inherently sketchy and kind of unpredictable. Especially on shutdown

Not only when running hard. But all the time kind of feels like I'm dragging an anchor

My question is, where should I start with my hardware setting? Equal with keel?

And, could loading it to hard cause it to drag the rpm down a bit? I feel I should be able to pull more rpm with my setup than I do.

I'm guessing to cut the loader to even with the keel and drive it from there.

I know my shoe has a shim, but I'll measure that and see what I can do there

Any tips or info? Could the hardware be hanging to far down and causing it to feel like I slam in the brakes anytime I let off? Could it load the impeller to hard?

I’m having pretty much the same issues. My loader is the same way and my shut down can get a little scratchy. Any info would be great.

Steve-

On my sled, the shoe is ~1/8" below the keel.
The (sport) loader is -maybe- a sixteenth below the keel, and above the shoe.

Mines a big ol day cruiser, and shutting down from a blistering 61 mph has no drama. G. S. Marine set it up this way in '95 or so. Hope this helps.

GS set mine up when he built the boat with the blower motor, and its like im dragging a freaking anchor...

i might even just yank the loader and see what happens

I run both above the keel. Not sure why most feel the need to drop everything below.

mine has always been this way, i think i'm leaving stuff on the table with it how it is

setting my droop angle with the wedges really helped to free the boat up, but it also made it more "draggy" kid of hard to explain

But kid of like a fish on a line feeling... atleast thats the best way i can explain it

I will measure mine when I get home. Mine is at lease 1/8 below the keel. I’m running a 19ft mini day. Boat seems fine and fast. Shut down can get a little crazy. Has anyone ever trim there loader level with the keel? Or is it a good idea? Not racing I do like to get with it at times. Just don’t like I have my face heading to the dash on shut down. New hull this year and never had this issue with my other hull. Sorry the thread jack steve

im far from an expert.... but i can tell you that what ive read is that the JE pumps are difficult to load/unpredictible above 65-70 mph

Yes sir that’s what I’m finding out. It’s a two handed at about that Speed. I just had the pump rebuilt and loads good no issues there just like you said high speed and shut down

i think its because of the way it molds into the hull.... but again im not an expert

the way ive decided to explain mine is its like a kite.... its nice and aired out, but something holding it back on a string...

What is the HP difference between your current motor and the blower motor that was in it before?
More HP needs more water. I don't think it would be enough to change the intake setup but, maybe.

Maybe just try it without the shim for the shoe?

I'm guessing 3-400 difference in hp on motor.. Maybe 200 on the nitrous

I personally think I need a blocker after the research I've done. Or a much less aggressive loader

Think I'm gong to try to trim the ramp back

Maybe mess wth the shoe

Going to actually measure it first this weekend
