Place Diverter Help
« on: April 18, 2014, 09:08:39 PM »
Hey guys just getting ready to get a manual diverter going for the season. I've decided to go with a stringer mount handle and was wondering if any of you guys had some pics or recommendations of how you mounted yours??  (Backer plates etc.) Also any tips on how to measure so that I order the right length cable the first time.

Thanks

I was just going to write about this same thing. I am wanting to buy one also but with a floor mount. Im just not to sure about the cable length. I dont want to go to short but i dont think i need 20 feet of cable either!!! Please help!!! My reverse cable that i have right now is a 15 footer so am i going to need a longer one with the diverter installed? The picture is my set up right now.

I ended up going with a 13' cable on my 18' boat seems to be perfect. I also got a little aluminum backer plate fabbed up for the other side of the stringer.

When I had a manual diverter I just had it bolted to the stringer. Used nice stringer washers and nylocks for the other side

I like to use the floor mounted control and mount it to a piece of aluminum angle to make it stringer. Seems to give you more options as far as where the handle ultimately ends up...

But I'm a lil' weird.  :o

I thought I was the only one that was going to run my stringer handle like that lol.. Attached you can see the 2 aluminum angle pieces, got them powder coated white then decided to run the floor mount out of my uncles old boat so they are just sitting in the garage... Up for free if anyone wants them...
